DMZ Host

The DMZ Hosting feature allows one local user to be exposed to the Internet
for use of a special-purpose service such as Internet gaming and videoconfer-
encing.
Whereas Port Range Forwarding can only forward a maximum of 10 ranges of
ports, DMZ hosting forwards all the ports for one PC at the same time.
• To expose one PC, enter the computer's IP address. To get the IP address of a
computer, refer to "Appendix F: Finding the MAC Address and IP Address
for Your Network Adapter."
• Deactivate DMZ by entering a 0 in the field.
When finished, click the Apply button and click the Continue button to save
the settings. Otherwise, click the Cancel button to undo changes made on this
screen.

MAC Address Clone

The Router's MAC address is a 12-digit code assigned to a unique piece of
hardware for identification, like a social security number. If your ISP requires
MAC address registration, find your adapter's MAC address by doing the fol-
lowing:
• If you are running Windows 98:
Click the Start button, and select Run. Type command, and press
the Enter key. At the DOS prompt, type winipcfg.
• If you are running Windows 2000 or Millennium:
Click the Start button, and select Run. Type command, and press
the Enter key. At the DOS prompt, type ipconfig /all. The Physical Address
with 12 digits is your Router's MAC address.
Enter those 12 digits into the fields below, and click the Apply button. This
"clones" your network adapter's MAC address onto your Router, and prevents
you from having to call your ISP to change the registered MAC address to the
Router's MAC address. For details, go to "Appendix F: Finding the MAC
Address and IP Address for Your Network Adapter."
