• COINS Mode
The discrimination pattern for this mode is designed
to find all types of coins and eliminate trash items
such as iron and foil. Four pixels of ferrous targets
and a narrow notch of foil have been excluded in the
COINS Mode. European coins, ranging from modern to
ancient, can potentially register almost anywhere on
the detector's Target ID due to their wide variance in
size, thickness and metal content.
Minimal discrimination is thus desired when
hunting European coins. Some pulltabs and pieces
of tabs may not be eliminated from detection. Some
digging of junk targets is to be expected, such as
aluminum cans.
For COINS Mode, the discrimination pattern will
appear as illustrated below.
In COINS Mode, 4 pixels under ferrous and one pixel of foil are notched out.

brass and bronze. Two pixels of ferrous have been
removed and the pattern will appear as:

• ZERO Mode
The discrimination pattern for this mode is designed
to detect every type of metal and should be used
when you want to find all metal items or when the
material of the desired object is unknown. As seen in
the illustration below, all 12 discrimination pixels are
switched on—indicating that no metal targets have
been notched out (eliminated).
when its signal is inconsistent. Such signals could
mean a trash target is close to a good target.
In ZERO Mode, the discrimination pattern shows all 12 pixels are on.
In RELICS Mode, the lowest 2 ferrous pixels are notched out.
