5. Exhaust filter service
If the engine has been running, the muffler will be very hot. Allow
it to cool before proceeding.
The exhaust filter must be serviced every 100 hours to keep it
functioning as designed.
1. Loosen the 5 mm hex bolt, then remove the top cover (see page
20 ).
2. Remove the lock pin from the exhaust filter and remove the
exhaust filter from the muffler.
3. Pinch the exhaust filter, strike lightly with a finger, and remove
carbon deposits. Be careful not to strike strongly.
The exhaust filter must be free of breaks and holes. If it is
damaged or fouled excessively, have it serviced by your Honda
dealer.
