II Formatting Memory Cards
Memory cards must be formatted after being used in other devices. Format the card
as described below.

Formatting Memory Cards
Formatting memory cards permanently deletes any data they may contain.
Be sure to copy any
photographs and other data you wish to keep to a computer before proceeding (pg. 148).

Turn the camera on.
Power switch

Hold the

and Wi) buttons down
simultaneously for approximately two
seconds.

A blinking For will appear in the shutter-
speed displays in the control panel and
viewfinder. To exit without formatting the
memory card, wait six seconds (the default
setting) until For stops blinking or press any
button other than the
f~
(::.:
and Wi) buttons.

Press the
fo§3
buttons again.
Press the
FO§3
(Q!] and Wi) buttons together a second time while For is blinking
to format the memory card. Do not remove the memory card or remove or
disconnect the power source during formatting.
When formatting is complete, the control panel and
viewfinder will show the number of photographs that
can be recorded at current settings.
