Before Calling for Service

When you find any problem with this VCR, first check the following. If you still cannot solve the problem, stop using the VCR, unplug
it from an outlet and contact your dealer.
Symptom
Installation
No power supplied to VCR.
The VCR POWER is ON but the VCR
does not operate.
No picture is obtained on the MONITOR
screen.
The picture is not clear on the monitor.
Function/operation
No operation when any tape operation
button is pressed.
The present time is not correct even if
using the VCR everyday.
The power cord has been disconnected
for less than 31 days but the present
time has been reset.
A tape cannot be loaded.
Recording
Recording does not work by pressing
the REC button.
Recording cannot be stopped by
pressing the STOP button.
Repeat recording does not work.

Remedy
• Has the power cord been disconnected from the outlet?
• Is the Lock or Lock All indicator (
Press LOCK button on the front panel several times to unlock the VCR.
• Is the Timer Recording indicator ( ) illuminated?
Press TIMER REC button on the front panel to cancel the timer recording.
• Is the Lock or Lock All indicator (
Press LOCK button on the front panel several times to unlock the VCR.
• Safety devices in are operation.
Press RESET button on the rear panel using a pointed instrument, then turn the
power on again.
• Is the monitor or the camera connected correctly?
Check the connection.
• Is the connecting cable properly connected, or is the cable defective?
Check the connection and also check the snapping of a wire in the cable.
• Is the camera focused?
See the user's manual for your camera and focus the camera correctly.
• Is the Lock or Lock All indicator (
Press LOCK button on the front panel several times to unlock the VCR.
• Is a cassette inserted?
Make sure the power cord is connected to the outlet for approximately 40 or
more hours per week when using it everyday.

• The reserved contents may be erased even within 31 days depending on the
charging time of the power failure compensation circuit.
Set the present time setting again.

• Has the cassette's erasure prevention tab been broken off?
Load the cassette with its erasure prevention tab intact.
• Has the tape run out?
Rewind the tape or load a new tape.

• Is the VCR in timer recording mode (Timer recording indicator ( ) is illuminating)?
Press TIMER REC button once.
• Is the Repeat indicator ( ) illuminated?
Set TAPE END in the FIRST TIME SET UP menu to REPEAT or ALARM•PROT.
When TAPE END in the FIRST TIME SET UP menu is set to ALARM•PROT,
repeat recording does not work using a tape with an alarm recording.
When a tape reaches its end during the alarm recording, the VCR rewinds the
tape and stops (recording does not start again) even though TAPE END in the
FIRST TIME SET UP menu is set to REPEAT.
