Outback is ready for whatever your journey may have in store, thanks to
its higher ground clearance, the control of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive,
and a heavy-duty suspension. Yet unlike most truck-based SUVs, on-road
performance remains eminently drivable, due to its car derived 4-wheel
independent suspension, precise rack-and-pinion steering and rigid chassis.
They all work together to deliver a smoother ride for the comfort of your
passengers, and more responsive handling for the enjoyment of the driver.

VEHICLE DYNAMICS
CONTROL
The available electronic stability control system helps
keep you on your intended path by measuring variables
such as steering input, braking and vehicle angle.
Sensing any slide that causes the vehicle to deviate from
your intended course, VDC applies individual brakes
and/or reduces engine power to counteract the slide
and help keep you safely in control.
HEAVY DUTY SUSPENSION
Riding on reinforced springs, shocks and other
strengthened components that comprise its heavy
duty suspension, the Outback enables you to travel
over rocky, uneven surfaces. And with up to 8.7
inches of ground clearance, you have the ability to
clear many of the unpaved roads that would block
the path of other vehicles.
POWER DISTRIBUTION
Unlike front- or rear-wheel-drive vehicles, the
Outback distributes power to all four wheels.
When it detects a loss of adhesion, it seamlessly
transfers power to the front or rear wheels with
the most traction to help maintain better control.
BRAKES
Accurate control and deceleration without fade.
Every Outback is equipped with four-wheel disc
brakes that are enhanced with Anti-lock Brake
System (ABS) and Electronic Brake-force Distribution
(EBD) that provides more even and stable braking
by optimally apportioning stopping power to the
front and rear wheels.
