VIDEO PLUS GRAPHICS DISPLAYS

The DCT5100 is capable of generating graphics that are not part of the
broadcast programming and can either overlay the active video or fill the
entire television screen. Common examples of graphics include
On-Screen Menus (such as the DCT5100's User Setting menu), Closed
Captions, and Interactive Program Guides. The DCT5100 overlays these
graphics whenever you pull up a menu, enable closed captions, or scroll
through a program grid.
The DCT5100 has several different video output and mode combinations
that can be used to view programming. However, these additional
graphics are not available on all of these combinations. The following
table summarizes the availability of video plus graphics for each video
output combination of the DCT5100:

Keep in mind that the 4:3 Override Feature gives you the option to
specify a preferred Output Mode for viewing HD programming and a
separate Output Mode for viewing 4:3 SD programming over the DVI and
YPbPr output connections. If the 4:3 Override is set to 480i and you are
tuned to a 4:3 SD channel, the DCT5100 will generate video plus
graphics on all of its outputs even if the DVI/YPrPb Output Mode is set to
1080i, 720p, or 480p.
