BATTERY CHARGING
R WARNING! Immedately stop usng the battery f t emts
an abnormal odor, heats up, or s dscolored or deformed. If
any of these condtons occur, contact your Icom dealer or
dstrbutor.
R WARNING! Immedately wash, usng clean water, any
part of the body that comes nto contact wth flud from n-
sde the battery.
R WARNING! NEVER put the battery n a mcrowave oven,
hgh-pressure contaner, or n an nducton heatng cooker.
Ths could cause a fire, overheatng, or cause the battery to
rupture.
CAUTION! Always use the battery wthn the specfied tem-
perature range for the transcever (–30˚C to +60˚C) and the
battery tself (–20˚C to +60˚C). Usng the battery out of ts
specfied temperature range wll reduce the battery's perfor-
mance and battery lfe.
CAUTION! Shorter battery lfe could occur f the battery s
left fully charged, completely dscharged, or n an excessve
temperature envronment (above +50˚C) for an extended
perod of tme. If the battery must be left unused for a long
tme, t must be detached from the rado after dschargng.
You may use the battery untl the remanng capacty s about
half, then keep t safely n a cool dry place wth the tempera-
ture range as below:
–20˚C to +50˚C (wthn a month)
–20˚C to +35˚C (wthn three months)
–20˚C to +20˚C (wthn a year)

D Charging caution

R DANGER! NEVER charge the battery pack n areas wth
extremely hgh temperatures, such as near fres or stoves,
nsde a sun heated car, or n drect sunlght. In such envron-
ments, the safety/protecton crcut n the battery wll actvate,
causng the battery to stop chargng.
R WARNING! NEVER charge or leave the battery n the
battery charger beyond the specfied tme for chargng. If the
battery s not completely charged by the specfied tme, stop
chargng and remove the battery from the battery charger.
Contnung to charge the battery beyond the specfed tme
lmt may cause a fire, overheatng, or the battery may rup-
ture.
R WARNING! NEVER nsert the transcever (battery at-
tached to the transcever) nto the charger f t s wet or
soled. Ths could corrode the battery charger termnals or
damage the charger. The charger s not waterproof.
CAUTION! NEVER charge the battery outsde of the spec-
fied temperature range: BC-160 (0˚C to +40˚C). Icom recom-
mends chargng the battery at +20˚C. The battery may heat
up or rupture f charged out of the specfed temperature
range. Addtonally, battery performance or battery lfe may
be reduced.
