SHIFTING

Before shifting, make sure there are no
swimmers or obstacles in the water near
you.

To change the shifting position from for-
ward to reverse or vice-versa, close the
throttle first so that the engine idles (or
runs at low speeds).

FORWARD

1) Place the throttle control grip in the
fully closed position.
2) Turn the gear shift lever quickly and
firmly from Neutral to Forward.

REVERSE

When operating in Reverse, go slowly. Do
not open the throttle more than half. Oth-
erwise, the boat may become unstable,
which could result in loss of control and
an accident.
1) Place the throttle control grip in the
fully closed position.
2) Turn the gear shift lever quickly and
firmly from Neutral to Reverse.
NOTE:
The outboard motor will make a full 360°
turn in its bracket (full-pivot system). Sim-
ply turning the engine around 180° turn
with the steering handle facing to the rear
to back up the boat can be reversed.
