To install or replace a PCI Express card, do the following:
1. Turn off the computer and disconnect all power cords from electrical outlets.
2. Remove the computer cover. See "Removing the computer cover" on page 126.
3. Depending on whether you are installing or replacing a PCI Express card, do one of the following:
• If you are installing a PCI Express card, remove the screw that secures the appropriate metal slot
cover. Then, remove the metal slot cover.
• If you are replacing an old PCI Express card, remove the screw that secures the old PCI Express
card, grasp the old card that is currently installed, and gently pull it out of the slot.

Notes:
a. The card fits tightly into the card slot. If necessary, alternate moving each side of the card a small
amount until it is removed from the card slot.
b. If the card is held in place by a retaining latch, press the card retaining latch
disengage the latch. Grasp the card and gently pull it out of the slot.
