How to add detergent and softener

Pull out the detergent drawer and add detergent or softener to the
correct compartment.
Only use detergents recommended for fully-automated washing
machine. Refer to the instructions on the packaging for appropriate
amounts to use for different wash programmes.
Liquid
Add detergent to the relevant
compartment in the drawer:
 Liquid detergent
● D on't use for Prewash programmes.
(see page 25)
Liquid mild detergent
● Use for Wool wash programmes.
Powdered
● I f you forget to add detergent, you can drain
the washing machine by running a Drain
only function, using the MODE button.
Then you can add detergent and start the
programme again. (Detergent only reaches the
drum when water flushes through the detergent
drawer).
● T o prevent powdered detergent staying
in the drawer:
● D ry the inside of the drawer with a cloth.
● M ake sure the powder isn't lumpy when you
add it.
How much detergent do I use?
This can depend on:
1. How soiled your laundry is
Light soil – no visible stains or marks
Normal –
Heavy soil – large or ground-in stains and
2. The amount of laundry
3. Water hardness
Y ou can find out more about water hardness
in your area by calling your local water
authority.
● I f the rinse cycle isn't removing all the
detergent from your wash, use less
detergent or try the Extra Rinse function.
Add tub cleaning detergent or bleach to this
compartment.
