Notes for Adjusting the Shutter Speed Manually
Range of Shutter Speed Adjustment
The adjustment range extends from 1/50 s (or from
1/25 s with Card Photoshot) to 1/8000 s.
The standard shutter speed is 1/50 s.
The nearer to [1/8000] a setting you select, the faster
the shutter speed becomes.
≥When [PROGRESSIVE] on the [CAMERA SETUP]
Sub-Menu is set to [ON], the range of selectable
shutter speeds is limited from 1/50 s to 1/500 s.
≥When [PROGRESSIVE] on the [CAMERA SETUP]
Sub-Menu is set to [AUTO], and the shutter speed
is set to 1/750 s or faster, the Progressive
Photoshot Function cannot be used. (p. 32)
≥The playback picture of subjects lit by strong lights
or with much light reflection may contain vertical
streaks of light.
≥During normal playback, the scene-to-scene
transitions may not be smooth.
≥Avoid recording under fluorescent lamps, mercury
lamps or natrium lamps, as they can cause unstable
colours and brightness of the playback picture.
≥When using the Gain-up Mode (p. 50) or any of the
Programme AE Modes (p. 48), it is not possible to
adjust the shutter speed. If the shutter speed was
manually adjusted, this setting is cancelled.
≥Adjust the shutter speed according to the recording
situation.
Notes for Adjusting the Iris (F Number) Manually
Range of Iris Adjustment
CLOSE (Closed) # F16...F1.7 #
OPEN (Opened) 0dB...18dB
The nearer to [CLOSE] a value you select, the darker
the picture becomes.
The nearer to [OPEN] a value you select, the brighter
the picture becomes.
The figures with dB show the Gain-up value. If you
increase the value too much, the picture quality
deteriorates.
≥Increasing the Gain-up value also increases the
graininess of the picture.
≥Depending on the zoom magnification, some iris
values may not be displayed.
≥Manually adjusting the shutter speed after
performing manual iris adjustment changes the iris
back to automatic adjustment. Therefore, if you
want to adjust both the shutter speed and iris
manually, be sure to adjust the shutter speed first.
≥When using any of the Programme AE Modes
(p. 48), it is not possible to adjust the iris.
≥The gain level is adjusted when the iris value is set
to [OPEN].
≥The [OPEN] iris value is displayed as F1.6 in the
camera data.
