Pinyin, stroke, English, Quick English, Number, and
Symbol modes
You can enter text in some features, such as
Messages, Phonebook, or Calendar, by using
Pinyin, and Stroke modes for Chinese, and
Quick English and English modes for English.
You can also enter numbers and symbols.
Changing the text input mode
• Press the right soft key and select the text
input mode you want.
Pinyin (PY)
CHN S Stroke (S STR)
CHN T Stroke (T STR)
Number (
NUM)
Symbolic (No indicator)
Quick English (T9 ENG)
English (
ABC)
• Press and hold [ ] to quickly switch to
Symbol mode.
Using Chinese Pinyin mode
Pinyin is a system to enter Chinese words by
spelling them phonetically (how they sound)
using the Latin alphabet. With the Pinyin input
method, you can enter Chinese characters by
entering their Pinyin string using the phone's
keypad.
Entering characters in Pinyin mode
1. Press the keys corresponding to the phonetic
spelling of the character you want, referring
to the letters printed on the keys.
2. Press [Left] or [Right] to select alternative
pinyins for the keys you have pressed.
3. If you cannot find the character you want
from the display, press [Up] or [Down] to
scroll through the word choices.
