    Preface iv Handling Precautions for Batteries • This camera uses two AA alkaline, AA lithium or AA Ni-MH batteries. Do not use batteries other than those specified here. Using some other type of battery may cause the camera to function poorly, or the batteries may rupture or cause a fire.

    15 Camera Setup Camera Setup Attaching the Wrist Strap Follow these instructions to attach the wrist strap to your camera to facilitate easy carrying: 1. Insert the short loop of the strap in the strap eyelet. 2. String the larger loop of the strap through the short loop and pull tight to attach the strap to the camera.

    Camera Setup 16 Inserting an SD/MMC Memory Card The camera features Approx. 11 MB internal flash memory but you may also use an optional SD/MMC memory card for additional storage. Follow these instructions to insert the SD/MMC card. 1. Open the battery compartment on the bottom of the camera.

If the camera is turned on for the first time, the Language menu pops up automatically after powering on the camera.     Getting Started 18 Getting Started Now that you are familiar with the layout of your camera, you are ready to start taking photos and movies. Taking Photos Taking a photo with the camera is very simple. Turn the camera on and press the SCENE button to access the Auto mode.

    19 Getting Started Using Macro Mode Macro mode is designed for close-up photography and can capture all detail even when your subject is very close to the camera. Press the Left/Macro navigation button. The Macro icon displays on the LCD screen. Note: The camera supports seamless AF in Auto/P-mode with which a greater focus range is achieved without selecting the focus mode manually.
