When asked to mentally find arcsin (1), you will typically ask yourself the
question: "Sine of what angle (within the principal values) will give me 1?"
The calculator does this computation very quickly for you.
When graphing an inverse function by hand, you would swap the limited domain
and the complete range values of the trigonometric function to form the inverse
function. Once again, the calculator does this swap quickly for you.
Calculator Operations
To compute inverse trigonometric functions you will turn the calculator on
+ –
and press
CL to enter computation mode and clear the home screen.
The computations can be done in degrees and radians.
Let's do the first one in degrees by pressing 2ndF
SET UP , touching B DRG,
–1
and double touching 1 Deg. Press 2ndF
QUIT to exit the menu. To find sin
-1
(.5), press 2ndF
sin
5
ENTER . The answer of 30° is shown below.
To graph the inverse sine function, press Y=
CL to access and clear the Y1
-1
prompt. Press ENTER
CL to clear additional Y prompts. Enter sin
x for Y1

by pressing 2ndF
