BATTERY CHECK & SERVICE DATE
To prevent battery damage, be sure all battery caps are tightly installed.
Neutralize acid before rinsing batteries.
Do NOT use a pressure washer to clean batteries.
Do NOT overfill batteries. The charging cycle will expel electrolyte
and result in component damage.
To prevent battery explosion that could result in severe
personal injury or death, keep all smoking materials,
open flames or sparks away form the batteries.
The electrolyte in a storage battery is an acid solution
which can cause severe burns to the skin and eyes.
Treat all electrolyte spills to the body and eyes with
extended flushing with clear water. Contact a physician
immediately.
Any electrolyte spills should be neutralized with a
solution of 1/4 cup sodium bicarbonate dissolved in
1-1/2 gallons of water and then flushed with clear water.
Always wear a safety shield or approved safety goggles
when adding water or charging batteries.
BATTERY DISPOSAL
Lead-acid batteries are recyclable. Return
batteries to distributor, manufacturer or lead
smelter for recycling. For neutralized spills,
place residue in acid-resistant containers with
absorbent material, sand or earth and dispose
of in accordance with local, state and federal
regulations for acid and lead compounds.
Contact local and/or state environmental
regarding disposal information.
MONTHLY BATTERY MAINTENANCE
Spray top and sides of batteries with a solution
of baking soda and water. Allow the solution to
set for at least three minutes; use a soft bristle
brush or cloth to wipe the tops of the batteries
in order to remove any residue that could cause
the batteries to self-discharge. Rinse the entire
area with low pressure clear water.
