Encrypt Data on Your Phone

You can encrypt data such as your online accounts, settings, music files and other media. After
encryption, you will need to enter the screen lock PIN or password to turn on your phone and
access the data.
Important: Set a lock screen PIN or password before encrypting your data.
Important: Fully charge the battery and keep your phone connected to the power adapter
during encryption. The encryption process takes about an hour.
Important: You cannot undo encryption. If you want to return to an unencrypted phone, you
must perform a factory reset.
1. With two fingers, swipe down from the status bar, and then touch
2. Touch Phone storage encryption.
3. Touch ENCRYPT.
4. Enter the lock screen PIN or password, and touch NEXT.
5. Touch ENCRYPT. Encryption starts and the progress is displayed. The phone may
restart a few times.
6. When the encryption process is complete, enter your PIN or password.

Encrypt Data on Your Storage Card

If you installed a storage card, you can encrypt the files stored on it. Storage card encryption
doesn't reformat or erase your card. Storage card files encrypted on the phone can be used
only on the phone.
Important: Set a lock screen PIN or password before encrypting your data.
Important: Fully charge the battery and keep your phone connected to the power adapter
during encryption. The encryption process takes about an hour.
Important: Only files added to the storage card after enabling encryption will be encrypted.
Existing files will not be encrypted.
1. With two fingers, swipe down from the status bar, and then touch
2. Touch File level SD card encryption.
3. Touch ENCRYPT.
4. Enter the lock screen PIN or password, and touch NEXT.
5. Touch ENCRYPT.
