used to prevent needle breakage or damaging the foot.

This stitch is ideal for 1/4" (0.6 cm) seams on knits or on
medium to heavy weight woven fabrics where you want a
narrow seam. It is also great for sewing spandex swim wear.
Place the fabric under the presser foot so that the stitches
are made over the raw edge.

Choose this stitch to attach elastic to garments. Mark
elastic into quarters and match these to the center front,
center back and side seams.
Place the middle of the elastic under the center of the
presser foot and stitch into place, making sure the elastic is
evenly distributed.
