PTY

The PTY signal is transmitted along with the
RDS data telegram and contains information
on the program type. Program types e.g. are:
news, current affairs, information, sport, etc.
This enables you to choose a certain type of
24
program according to your personal needs.
With PTY you are prepared for the future of
RDS.

You can now use the preset buttons to choo-
se one out of six different program types.
In the PTY mode the preset buttons no
longer have their original function (see also

station is found, the radio returns to the
original mode. The display shows "SPORT"
for approximately 3 seconds.

Reception of traffic
announcements with
RDS-EON
(Enhanced Other Networks)
Many FM broadcasters provide their service
area with traffic messages at regular inter-
vals.
All traffic program stations transmit a special
signal in parallel with the radio program,
which is processed by the car radio. As soon
as such a signal is received, the display
shows "TP" (Traffic Program).
Other radio stations do not air traffic announ-
cements by themselves, but offer the possi-
bility to receive the traffic announcements of
another station within the same radio net-
work. In this case, "TP" also lights up in the
display.
"TA" is displayed, if the priority for traffic
announcements is activated.
If a traffic announcement is aired, your radio
will automatically switch to the traffic pro-
gram for the duration of the message and
return to the previous station after the end of
the message.
Priority of traffic announcements ON/
OFF
If the priority of traffic announcements is
activated, "TA" lights up in the display. To
switch the function on/off:
Press the TA button.
