Thermal protector

An internal thermal protector has been
designed into your cleaner to protect it from
overheating .
When the thermal protector activates, the
suction motor will stop running, however the
agitator will continue to run. If this happens,
proceed as follows:
1 . Turn the cleaner OFF and disconnect it
from the electrical outlet .
2 . Check dirt cup pre-filter, HEPA
cartridge filter and final filter for dirt
accumulation .

4. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM

If a minor problem occurs, it usually can be solved quite easily when the cause is found by
using the check list below .
PROBLEM
Cleaner won't
turn on
Agitator brushes
aren't turning
Cleaner won't
pick up
POSSIBLE CAUSE
Not firmly plugged in
No voltage in wall plug
Blown fuse or tripped
breaker
Thermal protector activated Allow cleaner to cool for 30 minutes (this

Agitator is obstructed .
Broken or worn belt
Agitator brushroll worn
Dirt cup full
Incorrect carpet height
setting
Blockage in air flow passage Clear blockage
HEPA cartridge filter
clogged

Dirt cup lid not positioned
properly or missing
Filter assembly not
assembled properly
Thermal protector activated
3. Refer to "Clearing blockages" section.
4 . When the motor cools, the thermal
protector automatically resets and cleaning
may continue .
If the thermal protector continues to
activate after following the above steps,
your cleaner may need servicing (see
"Service" section).
POSSIBLE SOLUTION
Plug unit in firmly
Check fuse or breaker
Replace fuse or reset breaker
will reset the thermal protector)
Set switch to carpet position
Clear obstruction
Replace belt
Replace brushroll
Empty dirt cup
Move nozzle control knob to lower setting
Clean HEPA cartridge filter by either
tapping the side of the dirt cup or
removing the cartridge filter as described
in the "Filter assembly" section.
Clean pre-filter as described in "Filter
assembly" section.
Position dirt cup properly and lock latch
(Fig . 3 .5) .
Ensure that dirt cup lid is properly
positioned .
Ensure that filter assembly is positioned
properly (Figs . 3 .6 to 3 .11) .
Allow cleaner to cool (this will reset the
thermal protector) .
