6.1 CAMERA CONNECTION

Viewing Images
6.1.1 Using the AC power adapter ( sold separately )
Always use a FUJIFILM AC Power Adapter AC-5VH/AC-5VHS (➡P.106).
Use the AC power adapter to avoid losing power at inconvenient times, such as when downloading
photographed images to the computer. Using the AC power adapter also allows you to take pictures
and play back images without worrying about depleting the batteries.
G
!
Only connect or disconnect the AC power adapter when the camera is off.
Connecting or disconnecting the AC power adapter while the camera is on temporarily interrupts the power supply to the
camera, so that images or movies being shot at the time are not recorded. Failing to turn the camera off first can also
result in damage to the media or malfunctions during PC connection.
DC IN 5V socket
Connecting the AC power adapter does not allow you to charge the Ni-MH batteries. Use the
optional charger (➡P.106) to charge the Ni-MH batteries.

The "Connecting to a computer" section explains how to connect the camera to your computer
using the USB cable (IEEE 1394 cable) and describes the functions you can use once the camera
and computer are connected.
98
Check that the camera is off. Plug the AC power
adapter connector into the "DC IN 5V" socket and
then plug the AC power adapter into the power
outlet.
G
!
The socket-outlet shall be installed near the equipment and
shall be easily accessible.
G
!
The shape of the plug and socket-outlet depends on the
country of use.
G
!
See P.108 for notes on using the AC power adapter.
Turn off the camera and TV. Plug the included A/V
cable (provided with the camera) into the "A/V
OUT" (Audio/Visual output) socket.
G
!
When there is a power outlet available, connect the AC
Power Adapter AC-5V.
Plug the other end of the cable into the video input
socket on the TV. Then turn the camera and TV on
and take pictures or play back images as you
would normally.
G
!
Refer to the instructions provided with your TV for more
information on video input for your TV.
If the power cuts out during data transmission, the data will not be transmitted correctly. Always use the
AC power adapter when connecting the camera to a computer.
Refer to Section 5 the first time you connect the camera to your computer.
Install the software first. Do not connect the camera with
the computer before installing all the software.
h If your PC supports USB 2.0 (High-speed USB), data can be transferred faster than with previous
USB versions.
DSC ( Mass storage device ) mode
This mode provides a simple way to read images from a media and store images on to a media.
The USB (FireWire) or IEEE 1394 interface connection can be used for high-speed file transfer
(➡P.100).
To connect via an IEEE 1394 port, check that the interface is OHCI compliant and then refer to the
table below to check whether it is supported by your operating system.
