Use this mode for dynamic action shots that freeze the action in a single shot and record
motion in a series of still images.
• The camera focuses at the center of the frame.
• To take images continuously, hold down the shutter-release button. Up to 6 images are
captured at a rate of about 1.3 frames per second (fps) when image mode is set to P

• The camera continuously adjusts focus even when the shutter-release button is not
pressed halfway. You may hear the sound of the camera focusing.
• During continuous shooting, focus, exposure, and hue are fixed at the values determined
with the first image in each series.
• The frame rate with continuous shooting may vary depending upon the current image
mode setting, the memory card used, or shooting condition.
e Night portrait
Use this mode for portraits taken at sunset or at night.
• The camera detects a human face and focuses on it (A64).
• The camera smoothes skin tones by applying the skin softening function (A66).
• If no faces are detected, the camera focuses on the subject at the center of the frame.
• Digital zoom is not available.
f Party/indoor
Captures the effects of candlelight and other indoor background lighting.
• The camera focuses at the center of the frame.
• As pictures are easily affected by camera shake, hold the camera steadily. In dark
surroundings, the use of a tripod is recommended.
Z Beach
Captures the brightness of such subjects as beaches or sunlit expanses of water.
• The camera focuses at the center of the frame.
