Controlling exhaust emission
Some of the damaging substances in the
exhaust such as carbon monoxide (CO),
hydrocarbons (HC) and nitrous oxides
(NO
) are reduced to a minimum by
x
making structural changes – mainly in the
injection system and the ignition system in
conjunction with the catalytic converter.
Control indicator Z for exhaust
Illuminates when the ignition is switched on
and during the start attempt. Goes off
shortly after the engine starts running.
If it illuminates while the engine running
there is a fault in the emission control
system. The permitted emission values may
be exceeded. Consult a workshop
immediately. We recommend your
Vauxhall Authorised Repairer.
Catalytic converter, exhaust gases
Flashing with the engine running indicates
a fault that may damage the catalytic
converter. You can continue to drive
without causing damage by slowing down
until the flashing stops and the control
indicator is steady. Consult a workshop
immediately. We recommend your
Vauxhall Authorised Repairer.
