Certain repetitive hand activities may put you at a high risk for developing a Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI).

    Locate these safety decals on your unit. Make sure the decals are legible and that you understand and follow the instructions on them. If a decal cannot be read, a new one can be ordered from your ECHO dealer. See PARTS ORDER- ING instructions for specific information.

An improper or dull blade can cause serious personal injury. Blades MUST be sharp. Dull blades increase the chance of kick out and injury to yourself and bystanders.

    Storage section of this manual. WARNING Alternative fuels, such as E-20 (20% ethanol), E-85 (85% ethanol) or any fuels not meeting ECHO requirements are NOT approved for use in ECHO 2-stroke gasoline engines. Use of alternative fuels may cause performance problems, loss of power, overheating, fuel vapor lock, and unintended machine operation, including, but not limited to, improper clutch engagement.

Close container and shake to mix oil with gasoline. Add remaining gasoline, close fuel container, and remix. o l l IMPORTANT Spilled fuel is a leading cause of hydrocarbon emissions.

    STARTING COLD ENGINE WARNING The attachment will operate immediately when the engine starts and could result in loss of control and possible serious injury. Keep movable parts of the attachment off the ground and away from objects that could become entangled or thrown. Stop Switch Move stop switch button (A) forward away from the STOP position.

    Move stop switch button (A) backward to STOP position. WARNING If engine does not stop when stop switch is moved to STOP position, close choke - COLD START position - to stall engine. Have your ECHO dealer repair stop switch before using trimmer again.

    ECHO Service Dealer for maintenance. To help you decide whether you want to DO-IT-YOUR- SELF or have the ECHO Dealer do it, each maintenance task has been graded. If the task is not listed, see your ECHO Dealer for repairs.

    RASS RIMMER RUSH UTTER PERATOR ANUAL AIR FILTER Level 1. Tools required: 25 - 50 mm (1 - 2 in.) Cleaning Brush Parts required: Air & Fuel Filter REPOWER Close choke (Cold Start Position [ ]). This prevents dirt from entering the carburetor throat when the air filter is removed.

    SPARK PLUG Level 2. Tools required: T-Wrench, feeler gauge, soft metal brush Parts Required: REPOWER Tune-Up Kit IMPORTANT Use only NGK BPM-8Y spark plug (BPMR-8Y in Canada) other- wise severe engine damage may occur. Remove spark plug and check for fouling, worn and rounded center electrode.

    RASS RIMMER RUSH UTTER PERATOR ANUAL 1. Remove spark plug lead. Remove air cleaner cover. Remove muffler cover screw and muffler cover (A). Remove 2 engine cover screws and engine cover (B). IMPORTANT DO NOT use a metal scraper to remove dirt from the cylinder fins. Use brush to remove dirt from the cylinder fins.
  • Page 22: Carburetor Adjustment

    1,000 feet above mean sea level (MSL). To maintain proper engine operation above 1,000 feet MSL the carburetor must be adjusted by an authorized ECHO service dealer. IMPORTANT If the engine is adjusted for operation above 1,000 feet MSL, the carburetor must be re-adjusted when operating the engine below 1,000 feet MSL, otherwise severe engine damage can result.

    Every unit is run at the factory and the carburetor is set in compli- ance with emission regulations. Carburetor adjustments, other than idle speed, must be performed by an authorized ECHO dealer. 1. Check idle speed and reset if necessary. If a tachometer is available, idle speed screw (A) should be set to the specifications found on page 29 "Specifications"...

    Flat edge of washers (D) must be against drive shaft. NYLON LINE REPLACEMENT Level 1. Parts Required: ECHO 0.095" Nylon Trimmer Line 6 m (20 ft.) long. 1. Shut engine off. Lay unit on the ground with head assembly up.

Place index finger between the two strands and wind line, tightly and evenly, in direction of arrow (E) marked "CC". 5. Stop when approximately 15-20 cm (6-8 in.) line (C) remains and place ends of line in notches (F) in spool (B).

    SHARPENING METAL BLADES Three styles of metal blades are approved for use on the ECHO Brush Cutter. The 8-tooth blade can be sharpened during normal maintenance. The clearing blade and 80 tooth blade require professional service. Before sharpening, CLOSELY inspect blade for cracks (look at the bottom of each tooth and the center mounting hole closely), missing teeth and bending.
