7. Whenloading the logsplitter, placeyourhands onthesideof
thelog,notattheends. N ever attempt t oloadyoursplitter w hile
the splitting wedgeis in motion.Youmay getcaughtbythe
wedge andinjured.
8. Onlyuseyourhandto operate the splitting wedge or control
lever.Neveruseyourfoot or a ropeor any otherextension
device. T hiscouldresult i n yourinability to stopyoursplitter
quicklyenou_ih t oavoid injury.
9. Always keepfingersaway from anycracks thatopenin thelog
during splitting operation. Theycanquicklycloseandpinchor
amputate yourfingers.

11. Forlogsthatarenotcutsquare, the longest p ortion of thelog
should berotated down andthemost s quare endplaced against
thesplitting wedge.
12. Keepyourwork areaclean.Immediately remove splitwood
around yoursplitter sothatyoudo not stumble overit. Clean
....... chipsand dirtoff endplate(woodplatform) aftereachlogis
split,or whenever n ecessary to maintain flat contact b etween
woodandendplate(platform).
13. Nevermove thelogsplitter w hiletheengine isrunning.
14. Never leave your log splitter unattended with the engine
running. Shutofftheengine if youareleaving yoursplitter, even
for a shortperiod oftime.Someone could accidentally activate
thesplitting w edge andbeinjured.
15. Donot runengine in an enclosed a rea.Exhaust gases contain
carbonmonoxide. T his odorlessgas can be deadlywhen
inhaled.
16. Becareful n ot to touchthe muffler aftertheengine hasbeen
running. It willbeHOT!
17. If the equipment should startto vibrateabnormally, stopthe
engineand checkimmediately for the cause.Vibrationis
generally a warning oftrouble.
18. Whencleaning, repairing o r inspecting, make certain allmoving
partshavestopped. Disconnect the sparkplug wireand keep
thewireaway fromtheplugto prevent a ccidental starting.
3. Replace a ll damaged orwornparts suchashydraulic h oses and
fittingsimmediately with manufacturer approved replacement
parts.
4. Do not change the engine governor s ettings or overspeed t he
engine.This increases the hazardof personalinjury.The
maximumenginespeedis presetby the manufacturer and is
withinsafety limits.
5. Donotalter yoursplitter i nanymanner s uch asattaching a rope
or extension t othecontrol leveror adding tothewidthor height
of the wedge.Suchalterations m ay causeyoursplitter t o be
unsafe.
6. Performall recommended maintenance procedures beforeyou
useyour splitter.
7. Do not serviceor repairyour log splitterwithoutdisconnecting
the sparkplug wire andmovingit away from the sparkplug.
8. Neverstore the equipmentwithgasolinein thetank insideof a
buildingwhereignitionsourcesare present,such as hot water
andspaceheaters,clothes dryersandthe like.Allow the engine
to coolbefore storing in anyenclosure.
9. Always store gasolinein an approved, t ightly sealedcontainer.
Store the container in a cool, dry place. Do not store in a
buildingwhereignitionsourcesare present.
10. To reducefire hazard, k eepenginefree of grass,leaves,wood
chips, a nd excessive grease and oil.
11. The hydraulic system of your log splitter requires careful-
inspection,alongwiththe mechanical p arts.Be sureto replace
frayed,kinked,or otherwisedamaged hydraulic components.
12. Fluidescaping from a very small hole canbealmostinvisible.
Do not checkfor leakswith your hand. Escaping fluid under
pressurecan have sufficientforce to penetrateskin, causing
seriouspersonalinjury.Leaks canbe locatedbypassing a piece
of cardboard or woodoverthe suspected leakand lookingfor
discoloration.
13. Should it become necessary to loosen or remove anyhydraulic
fitting or line,be sure to relieve all pressurebyshutting offthe
engineand moving the controlhandlebackandforth several
times.
14. Do not remove the cap from the hydraulictankor reservoir
whileyourlogsplitter is running. Hot oilunderpressure could
cause injury.
15. Thepressure reliefvalve onyoursplitter i spreset a tthefactory.
Do not adjustthe valve.Only a qualified service technician
should performthisadjustment.
16, Completely d rainfueltankpriorto storage. Thisguards against
accumulation offuel fumeswhichcould result i na firehazard.
17. Neverstorelogsplitter o utside without a waterproof cover. R ain
willcause rustontheinside of thecylinder.
_lb CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Do not operate yoursplitter in poor mechanical condition or
when in need of repair_
2. Periodically check thatall nuts,bolts, s crews, h ose clamps and
hydraulic f ittings aretighttobesureequipment isin safe work-
ingcondition. Whereappropriate, c heckall safetyguards and
shields to besuretheyarein theproper position. Never operate
yoursplitter w ithsafety guards, shields or otherprotective fea-
turesremoved. These safetydevices areforyourprotection.
dl_ TOWING
1. Thisunitshould notbe towed onanystreet, h ighway or public
roadwithout c hecking t heexisting federal,localor state vehicle
requirements. Anylicensingor modifications such as taillights,
etc., needed to comply withthe existing federal,localor state
vehicle requirements isthesoleresponsibility ofthepurchaser.
2. Beforetowing,be certainthe log splitteris correctly and
securely attachedto the towing vehicle, a nd thesafety chains
arein place. L eaveslack in chains for turning allowance.
3. Do not allowanyoneto sit or rideon yoursplitter. Theycan
easily fall offandbeseriously i njured.
