The remote control is not available, or the remote control will not access the pop up menu.
• Use the buttons on the front panelof theTV/VCR to access the pop up menu (page20).You cannot
enter numbers(for example,to programa timer recording) usingthe front panelbuttons.
TV/VCR has no power.
• Make sure the power plug is completelyconnectedto anAC (alternatingcurrent) outlet.
TV/VCR power shuts off after 15 minutes.
• To saveenergy,the TV/VCR will shut itself off after 15 minutes when it is on a channelthat is not receiv-
ing a broadcastsignal(for example,a stationthat hasgone off the air for the night).This is normal.
Channel reception
is poor,
• Check connections,then set up the channels again(page 10).
TV/VCR does not have a picture.
• Adjust the antenna (pagesix).
• Adjust tbeTV/VCR picture controls (pages24 - 25).
TV/VCR has poor sound or no sound.
• Adjust the votume.
• Pressthe MUTE button to restore the volume.
Tiupe playback is poor or tape is destroyed.
• Adjust the tracking. Detailsare on page 45.
• If moisture hasaccumulated in YOur'I-V/VCR,keep the power on for at leasttwo hours,but do not try
to play a tape. Detailsare on page 48.
TV/VCR does not display closed captions.
• Make sure Counter Only is set to OFE Detailsore on page 26.
• Make sure closedcaptioningis available for the program.Refer to the'IV listingsin your localnewspaper.
Remote control does not operate TV/VCR.
• Aim the remote control directly at the TV/VCR's remote sensor.Deta_ are on pagesfiveand 20.
• Removeall obstaclesbetween the remote control and theTV/VCR.
• Inspectand replace the batteries in the remote control. Detai/sare on page five.
Number buttons won't work for channels above 69.
• SelectCABLE from the INPUT sectionof the pop up menu,then let the'I'V/VCR set up the channels.

TV/VCR can't receive channels above 13.
• Select CABLE from the INPUT sectionof the pop up menu, then let the TV/VCR set up the channels.

A tape can't be inserted into the'I'V/VCR.
• Insertthe tape window side up,with the record tab facing you.
• Make sure a tape is_t alreadyin theTV/VCR by pressing the STOP/EJECTbutton on the TV/VCR.
• Gent/)-pushon the center of the tape. Never force a tape into the "/_V/VCR.
• If a timer recording is set and the'I-V/VCR power is off,theTV/VCR will eject the tape if the record tab
is missing.
A tape can't be removed from theTV/VCR.

• If a timer recording is programmed,turn on the TV/VCR power,then eject the tape. Be sure to inserta
tape and turn off theTV/VCR power for the timer recording.
TV/VCR
ejects the tape when you try to start a recording.

The cylinder rotates when tape playback is stopped.
• To enablethe quick p(aymechanism, t he cylinderwill rotate for about f'rveminutes.This is normal.The
quick play mechanismswitchesthe tape mechanism from Stop to Playin just one second.
