The D-73d Series LED 3-D Home Theater Projection System does not require any routine
maintenance to speak of, with the exception of switching, cleaning or replacing the
polarizing filters in front of each primary lens. There are no other user-serviceable or
-replaceable parts. Unless you are a qualified, factory-trained Runco technician, do not
attempt to repair or replace any system component yourself. You will void the
product warranty if you do so.
Switching, Cleaning or Replacing the Polarizers: For a rear-projection installation
with zero or two mirrors, you must switch the left and right polarizers on the projector to
maintain proper 3D imaging.
If the polarizers become dirty over time, or are scratched or otherwise damaged, it may be
necessary to clean or replace them.
Proceed as follows to remove the polarizers from the projector in order to switch, clean or
replace them.
1. Remove the anamorphic lens (if present) in front of the polarizer.
2. Loosen the captive screws securing the polarizer to the transport plate to which it is
attached. Use a screwdriver with a "P1" Phillips blade.
3. Remove the polarizer.
4. Clean the polarizer with a soft, cotton or flannel cloth or, if it needs replacing, discard it.
Do not under any circumstances use solvents such as
Caution
benzene or thinner to clean the polarizers. Do not use tissue or
coarse fabric. The polarizer surface is easily scratched.
5. Install the cleaned or replacement
polarizer on the transport plate. Ensure
that the guide rail at the top of the
polarizer is properly seated in the polarizer
guide slot on the projector.
6. Re-install the anamorphic lens, if necessary.
7. Verify proper optical alignment and, if necessary, perform the procedure described in
Table 3-6.
