SERVICING YOUR OUTBOARD MOTOR
Engine Oil Level Check
Check the engine oil level with the
engine stopped and the outboard
motor in the vertical position.
1.
Unlock and remove the engine
cover (p.
65
).
2.
Remove the dipstick and wipe it
clean.

Insert the dipstick all the way in,
then remove it and check the oil
level shown on the dipstick.

If the oil level is low, remove the
oil filler cap, and add oil to reach
UPPER
the upper limit mark shown on the
LIMIT
dipstick. Use the oil recommended
on p.
69
.
LOWER
Running the engine with a low oil
LIMIT
level can cause engine damage.
5.
Install the oil filler cap and tighten
it securely. Do not overtighten.
6.
Install and lock the engine cover.
OIL FILLER CAP
Engine Oil Change
An engine oil evacuation device may
be used to remove the engine oil.
Drain the used oil while the engine is
warm. Warm oil drains quickly and
completely.

Unlock and remove the engine

Push the drain bolt cover lever and
remove the cover while pulling the
cover backward at an angle.
