Intelligent Digital Zoom

Enable digital zoom.
Select ON for the R INTELLIGENT DIGITAL
ZOOM option in the setup menu (P 102).

Choose a subject.
Frame the subject in the center of the display
using intelligent digital zoom.

Press the selector up (c).
The camera will zoom to the maximum opti-
cal zoom position with the area that will be
recorded using intelligent digital zoom indi-
cated by a frame at the center of the display.

Frame the picture.
Use the zoom control to choose the area
that will be included in the final photograph.

Focus and shoot.
The framed area will
be enlarged to create a
full-sized picture.

• Pictures taken using the instant zoom are lower qual-
ity than pictures taken using normal zoom.
• Only horizontal (landscape-orientation) framing is
available in continuous shooting mode.
