Using
the TV/VCR
Features
Closed
Captions
Closed
captioning
displays
the dialog
of a program
as words
on the TV screen.
It is useful
for the deaf,
hearing
impaired,
or anyone
who
wants
to watch
a
program
without
sound.
If you have
turned
closed
captioning
on and it does
not appear
on the screen,
it is not available
on the channel
you
are watching.
Check
your TV program
listings
for CC (closed
caption)
broadcasts.
This
TV/VCR
also supports
two
text modes
used
to display
text sent from
a TV
station
or cable
company.
The closed
caption
or text signal
is automatically
recorded
when
it is broadcast.
To view
the captions
or text during
playback,
follow
the steps
below.
To View
Closed
Captions
1. Press MENU on the remote to display
the
MENU.
2.
Press + or - to highlight
the Closed
Caption
feature.
3.
Press SET to activate the Closed Caption
Sub-Menu.
4.
Use the-
or + button
on the remote to
highlight
the desired
closed caption
display
mode.
• Highlight
Caption chl or Caption ch2 and
press SET to have captions
appear
on the
screen if they are broadcast.
• Highlight
Text chl or Text ch2 and press
SET to have information
appear
on the
screen when it is broadcast.
• Highlight
Off and press SET to turn the
caption feature off. No captions will appear
on the screen.
Press RETURN to return to the previous
menu
or press MENU to remove all menus
from the
screen.

If the MUTE button
is pressed,
closed
captions
(ch 1 mode) will automatically
appear
on the screen when broadcast.
Press
MUTE again to remove
the captions.
