OVEN
Theself-deen cycle uses above normal cook-
ing temperatures t o automatically cleanthe
entireoveninterior.
It is normal f orexcessive f lare-ups, smoking
and flamingto occurduringcleaning if the
ovenisheavily soiled. It isbeftertoclean the
ovenregulady r atherthento waituntilthere
isa heavybuild-upof soilin the oven.
Dunngthe cleaning process, the kitchen
should be wellventilatedto help eliminate
normal o dors associated with cleaning.
BEFORESELF-CLEANING
Turnofftheovenlight b eforecleaning a s the
lightmay bumoutduringthecleancycle.
Removebroilerpan,all pansand the oven
racksfrom theoven. Theoven rackswill
discolor andmay not slideeasilyaftera
self-clean cycle.
Cleanovenframe,doorframe(area outside
the doorgasket)andaroundthe opening in
thedoorgasketwith a nonabrasive cleaning
agentsuchas Bon Ami* or detergent a nd
water.These areasare notexposed to clean-

Wipeup excess greaseor spillovere from the
ovenbottomto prevent e xcessive smoking,

lifted slightly ( 1 inch).
Wipeup sugaryand acidspitlevers s uchas
sweetpotatoes, tomato or milk-based s auces.
Porcelain enamelis acid resistant, n otacid
proof.The porcelainfinishmay discolorit
acidicspills are notwipedupprlertoa self-
cleancycle.
DURINGCLEAN CYCLE
Whenthe LOCKindicator lightsin thedisplay,
thedoor cannot beopened. Toprevent damage
todoor,donotforcedoor open when theLOCK

Some smokeandodormayhedetoctedthe first
few timesthe ovenis cleaned. T his is normal
andwilllessen intime.Smokemayalsooccurif
ovenisheavily soiledor if broilerpanwasleft in

oven.
Asovenheats, y ou mayhearsounds of metal
partsexpanding andcontracting. Thisisnormal
and willnotdamageoven.
AFTER SELF-CLEANING
Aboutone hourafter the end of the clean
cycle, the LOCKindicator light willturnoff.
At thispoint, the doorcanbeopened.
Somesoilmayleavea light grey, powdery ash
which canberemoved with a damp cloth. I fsoil
remains, i t indicates t hatthe cleancyclewas
notlong enough. Thesoilwillbe removed dur-
ingthenext clean cycle.
If the ovenrackswereleft in the ovenanddo
notslidesmoothly after a clean cycle, w ipe racks
and embossed rack supports with a small
amount o fvegetable o iltorestore easeofmove-
ment.
A whitediscoloration may appear afterclean-
ing if acidic orsugaryfoodswerenotwiped up
before theclean cycle.This d iscoloration isnor-
malandwillNOTaffect performance.
Finelinesmayappear intheporcelain r esulting
from theheating and cooling o fthefinish.This
isnormal a ndwillnotaffectperformance.
SETTING THECONTROLS FOR
SELF-CLEAN
NOTE:Theseinstructions coverautomatic
lock andmanuallockmodels.
1, Closetheovendoor.
2. Movethedoor lock lever dghtto the
locked position ( selectmodels).
3. Pressthe Cleanpad.

lit,allowoventocool a boutonehour then
unlock ( select m odels) and open oven door.
