Choose the role played by the Fnbutton.
[] Preview Press the Fnbutton to preview depth of field (_ 72).
Press the Fnbutton to lock flash value (built-in flash and SB-900, SB-800,
Ir'Jlll FVlock SB-700, SB-600, SB-400, and SB-R200 flash units only, _149). Pressagain
to cancel FV lock.
I_ AEIAFlock Focus and exposure lock while the Fn button is pressed.
I_ AElockonly Exposure locks while the Fn button is pressed.
I_ AElock Exposure locks when the Fnbutton is pressed, and remains locked until
(Hold) the button is pressed a second time or the exposure meters turn off.

(_) Flashoff The flash will not fire in photos taken while the Fn button is pressed.
If the Fn button is pressed while exposure, flash, orADL bracketing is active
in single frame or quiet shutter-release mode, all shots in the current

Bracketing bracketing program will be taken each time the shutter-release button is
burst )ressed. If white balance bracketing is active or continuous release mode
mode CHor CL)is selected, the camera will repeat the bracketing burst
while the shutter-release button is held down (in single frame release
mode, photographs will be taken at about 6 fps).
Active Press the Fnbutton and rotate the main command dial to choose Active
_[_ D-Lighting D-Lighting (_ 139).
If image quality is set to JPEG fine, JPEG normal, or JPEG basic, "RAW"
will be displayed in the control panel and an NEF (RAW) copy will be
recorded with the next picture taken after the Fnbutton is pressed (to
+i-_1 +NEF(RAW)
record NEF/RAW copies with a series of photographs, keep the shutter-
release button pressed halfway between shots). To exit without recording
an NEF (RAW) copy, press the Fn button again.
