II FlashControl at 1/320 s (Auto FP)
When 11320 s (Auto FP) is selected for Custom Setting el (Flash sync speed,
222), the built-in
flash can be used at shutter speeds as fast as 1/320s, while
optional
SB-900, SB-800, SB-700, SB-600, and SB-R200 flash units can be used at any
shutter speed (Auto FP High-Speed
Sync).
Flash range drops as shutter speed increases.
Flash range will nevertheless
be greater than
that obtained
at the same speeds with Auto FR
[I_ The Flash-Ready
Indicator
When the flash fires at full power, the flash-indicator
in the camera viewfinder
will blink to
warn that the resulting
photograph
may be underexposed.
Note that the flash-ready
indicators on optional flash units will not display this warning
when 1/320 s (Auto FP) is
selected.
This option determines
the slowest shutter speed available
when front- or rear-curtain
sync or red-eye reduction
is used in
mode P or A (regardless of the setting chosen, shutter speeds
can be as slow as 30 s in Sand M modes or at flash settings of
slow sync, slow rear-curtain
sync, or red-eye reduction
with slow
sync). Options
range from 1/60s (1/60 s) to 30 s (30 s).
Choose the flash mode for the built-in
flash.

Description
Flash output is adjusted automatically in response to shooting
conditions.
Choose the flash level (_ 224). The camera does not emit monitor pre-
flashes.
flash fires repeatedly while the shutter is open, producing a strobe-
light effect (_ 224).
Use the built-in flash as a master flash controlling one or more remote
optional flash units (_ 225).
