COOKTOP

left front position. This burner
offers higher speed cooking POWER
that can be used to quickly

bring water to a boil and for large-quantity
cooking.
Unlike a range withstandardgas burners,
this cooldopdoes not lift-upnor isitremov-
able. Do not attemptto lift the cooktop
for anyreason.
SEALED BURNERS
The sealedburnersof your range are se-
curedto the cooktopand are notdesigned
to be removed. Since the burners are
sealed intothe cooktop,boilovers or spills
will not seep underneaththe cooktop.
However, the burner should be cleaned
after each use. The head portion of the
burner has a removablecap that is easily
removed for cleaning. (See page 12 for
cleaningdirections.)
Bumercapsmustbecorrectlyplacedonthe
burner base for proper operation of the
burner.

flame for delicate sauces or

BURNERGRATES
The grates mustbe properly positionedbe-
forecooking.Align the gratewiththesupport
legtowardthe center of the cookingsurface.
Lowerthe grate onto the range so that the
rubberfeetlocated at the fourcomers ofthe
gratesit in the indentationson the cooktop.
(Seeillustrationbelow).Improper installation
of the grates may result in chipping of the
cooktop.
Do not operatethe burnerswithouta pan
on the grate. The grate'sporcelainfinish
may chipwithouta panto absorbthe heat
from the burnerflame.
Althoughtheburner gratesare durable,they
willgraduallylosetheirshineand/or discolor,
due to the high temperatures of the gas
flame.

A properly adjusted burner with clean
ports will light withina few seconds. If
using naturalgas, theflame willbe blue
witha deeperblue inner cone.
If thebumet flame isyellowor isnoisy,the
air/gasmixturemaybe incorrect.Contact
a service technicianto adjust. (Adjust-
mentsare not coveredby the warranty.)
With LP gas, some yellow tips on the
flamesareacceptable. T hisis normal a nd
adjustmentis not necessary.
Withsome types of gas,you mayheara
°popping" s oundwhen thesurfaceburner
is turned off. This is a normaloperating
sound of the burner.
Ifthe control knob isturned very quickly
from HiGHto LOW,theflamemaygo out,
particularlyif the burner is cold. If this
occurs,turn theknobto theOFF position,
wait several seconds and relight the :
burner.
The flame shouldbe adjusted so it does '
not extend beyondthe edge of the pan.
