Resume pullinghandle untilengine
starts.See Illustration.
• Above40°F, allowengineto runfor
approximately 5 seconds.Then,
squeezeand release throttle tdggerto
allowengineto idle.
• Below40°F, allowengineto warm up
for 30 secondsto 1 minute;then
squeeze and release throttle triggerto
allow engineto idle.
• To stop engine, moveOn/Stopswitch
to the STOP position.

DONOTuse the choketo starta warm
engineor floodingand hardstarting
may occur.
° Move On/Stop switchto ON.
• Set fast idle lock.
i Be sure choke is in the OFFposition.
Withsaw on ground,gripfront handle
withleft handand place yourrightfoot •
throughrear handle.
Grasp starter ropehandle and pull
ropefirmly and quickly to startengine.
• Squeeze and release throttle trigger
to retum engineto idlespeed.

DIFFICULT STARTING OR
STARTING A FLOODED ENGINE
The engine may be floodedif ithas not
started after 10 pulls.Floodedengines
can be clearedof excess fuel with the
following procedure:
° Activatethe fast idle lock.
Startingcould requiremanypullsde-
pendingon how badlyunitis flooded. I f

OPERATING TIPS
• Check chain tensionbeforefirstuse
and after 1 minute of operation.See
Chain Tensioninthe Maintenance
section.
• Cut wood only. Do notcut metal, plas-
tics, masonry, non-woodbuildingma-
terials,etc.
• Stop the saw ifthe chainstrikesa for-
eignobject. Inspectthe saw and re-
pair parts as necessary.
• Keep the chain out of dirtand sand.
Even a small amountof dirtwillquick-
ly dull a chain and increasethe possi-
bility of kickback.
Practicecuttinga few smalllogsusing
the following steps.This willhelpyou
get the =feel"of usingyoursaw before
you begin a major sawingoperation.
Squeeze the throttletriggerand al-
low the engine to reachfull speed
beforecutting.
• Begincuttingwith the saw frame
againstthe log.
• Keep the engine at full speed the
entiretime you are cutting.
• Allowthe chainto cut for you.Exert
onlylight downwardpressure.
° Release the throttletdggeras soon
as the cut is completed,allowingthe
engine to idle. Ifyou runthe saw at
full throttlewithouta cuttingload,
unnecessarywear can occur.
• To avoid losingcontrolwhen cut is
complete, do not put pressureon
saw at end ofcut.
• Stop the engine beforesetting the
saw down.

• Verifythatthe On/Stopswitchis in the causingseriousinjury.Do not cut near
ON position.
