from the power source before cleaning or performing
any maintenance.

When servicing,

parts.

A_, WARNING:
It is not recommended
to use compressed
dry air as a cleaning
method for the Impact Wrench. If cleaning with compressed
air must be used,
always wear safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields. If the operation
is
dusty, also wear a dust mask.
BRUSH REPLACEMENT
(Fig. 4)
The impact wrench is equipped
with externally
accessible
brushes.
Replacement
brush sets are available
through
a Sears Parts & Repair Service Center.
To replace:

Unplug the tool.
Loosen the brush caps with a slotted
screwdriver and remove them from the
tool.

Remove the brush assemblies.

Check for wear. Replace
both brush
assemblies
when the carbon
brush on either is less than 1/4 in. long.
NOTE: Do not replace the brush on one side without
replacing
the other.

Reassemble
using new brush assemblies.
Make sure that the curvature
of
the brush matches
the curvature
of the motor and that the brush moves
freely in the brush tube, being certain to fit the two metal "ears" into the
brush tube.
6.
Tighten all brush caps securely.
Do not over-tighten.
The tool should
be
allowed to "RUN IN" (run at no-load without
a bit) for 5 minutes
before use to
seat the new brushes
properly.
GENERAL
MAINTENANCE
Avoid using solvents
when cleaning
plastic parts. Most plastics
are susceptible
to damage
from various types of commercial
solvents
and may be damaged
by
their use. Use clean cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.

Do not at any time let brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based
products, penetrating
oils, etc. to come in contact with plastic parts. Chemicals
can damage, weaken or destroy plastic which may result in serious personal injury.

all repairs should
