CAUSE
+ Faulty spark plug.
,, Dirty fuel filter.
- Stale or dirty fuel.
• Water in fuel.
Spark plug wire loose.
o Dirty engine air screen/fins+
° Dirty/c!ogged
muffler.
o Loose or damaged wiring.
• Carburetor out of adjustment.
° Engine valves out of adjust-
ment.
CORRECTION
;
Clean and regap or change
spark plug.
o Replace fuel filter.
,, Drain fuel tank and refill with
fresh gasoline.
° Drain fuel tank and carburetor,
refill tank with fresh gasoline and
replace fuel filter.
• Connect and tighten spark plug
wire,
o Clean engine air screen/fins.
• Cleanfreplace
muffler.
- Check all wiring.
° See "To Adjust Carburetor"
in
Service and Adjustments
section.
° Contact an authorized service
center.
° Worn, bent or loose blade.
• Replace blade.
Tighten blade
° Bent blade mandrel
• Loose/damaged part(s).

° Buildup of grass, leaves, and
trash under mower.

° Clogged mower deck vent

around mandrels.

nism.
° Worn/damaged mower drive
belt.
• Frozen idler pulley.
o Frozen blade mandrel.
° Engine speed too slow.
• Travel speed too fast.
= Wet grass,
o Mower deck not level.
• Low/uneven tire air pressure.
° Worn, bent or loose blade.

Replace blade mandrel.
Tighten loose part(s). Replace
damaged parts.
Check wiring, switches and con-
nections. If not
corrected, contact an authorized
service center/
department.
o Replace blade. Tighten blade
bolt.
° Level mower deck.
o Clean underside
of mower hous-
ing.
= Replace blade mandrel.
° Clean around mandrels to open
vent holes.
Remove obstruction.
° Replace mower drive belt.

Replace idler pulley.
° Replace blade mandrel.
° Place throttle control in "FAST'
position.
o Shift to slower speed.
° Allow grass to dry before mow-
ing.

Level mower deck.
o Check tires for proper air pres-
sure.
o Replace/sharpen blade, Tighten
blade bolt.
