Check Engine Oil
Check oil levelbeforeeachoperation. B esureoil levelismaintained.
1.
Check theoil with theenginestoppedandlevel.
2.
Remove t he oil fill dipstickandwipeit clean.
3.
Insertandtightendipstick.Remove i t to check the oil level.
4.
If theoil levelisnearor belowthe lowerlimit markonthe dipstick,remove
the oil filler cap/dipstick, a ndfill with the recommended o il tothe upper
limit mark.Donotoverfill.
5.
Reinstall the oil fill dipstick.
ChangeEngineOil
Gasolineand itsvaporsare extremelyflammable andexplosive.Fireor
explosioncancausesevereburnsor death.
Change engine oil afterthe first five hoursofoperation, a ndeveryfifty hoursor
onceaseason thereafter.
Whenyou drain the oil from the top oil fill tube, the fuel tank must be
empty or fuel canleak out andresultin afire or explosion.Toempty the
fuel tank, runthe engine until it stopsfrom lackof fuel.

With engine off but still warm,disconnect the sparkplugwireandkeepit
awayfromthe sparkplug.
Place a suitablecontainer n extto the engineto catchthe usedoil.
Remove t he oil fill dipstickanddrainthe oil into the container b ytippingthe
enginetowardtheoil filler neck.SeeFigure 18.
Used oil is a hazardouswasteproduct. Dispose o f usedoil properly. Donot
discardwith household w aste. Check with your localauthorities or Sears
ServiceCenter f or safe disposal/recyclingfacilities.

With theengineinalevelposition,fill tothe upperlimit markonthe dipstick
with the recommended o il.
Runningthe engine with a low oil levelcan causeengine damage.

Reinstall the oii fill dipsticksecurely.
CleanEngine
Dailyor before everyuse,cleangrass, c haffor accumulated d ebrisfrom
engine.Keep linkage, s pring, a ndcontrols clean.Keep areaaroundand
behindmufflerfreeof anycombustible d ebris.
Keeping engineclean allowsair movement a round engine.
Engine partsshouldbekeptcleanto reducethe riskofoverheating and
ignitionofaccumulated debris.

LUBRICATION
