Conditions
which r equire guide b ar
maintenance:
• Saw cuts t oone side oratanangle.
• Saw has tobeforced through the
cut.
• Inadequate
supply ofoil t othebar
and chain.
Check the condition
ofthe guide b ar b e-
fore each u se and each t ime t he chain
issharpened.
Aworn g uide b ar w ill
damage the chain a nd make cutting diffi-
cult.
After each u se, with unit d isconnected
from power source, clean a ll s awdust
from the guide b ar a nd sprocket hole.
To maintain
guide b ar:
• Disconnect
the chain s aw from the
power source.
• Loosen and remove barclamp nuts
and bar c lamp. Remove barand
chain f rom saw.
• Clean the oilholes a nd bar g roove
after e ach 5hours o foperation.

Correct Groove
Replace guide bar when the groove is
worn, the guide bar is bent or cracked,
or when excess heating or burring of
the rails occurs. If replacement
is nec-
essary, contact your Sears Service
Center.

• Check bar and chain oil before use
and every 15 minutes while operat-
ing the saw. See GUIDE BAR AND
CHAIN OIL under the OPERATION

INSPECT
AND CLEAN
UNIT AND
LABELS
• After each use, inspect complete
unit
for loose or damaged
parts.
Clean
the unit and labels using a damp
cloth with a mild detergent.
• Wipe off the unit and labels with a
clean dry cloth.
