    Inserting Your Camera’s Memory Card 1. Turn off your computer or disconnect it from the RX620; otherwise, photos may automatically copy to your computer when you insert a card. 2. Open the memory card slot cover. 3. Make sure the memory card light (next to the card slots) is off and all the slots are empty.

    Scanning to a Memory Card You can use your Epson Stylus Photo RX620 as a stand-alone scanner to save scans of photos, film, and slides to your memory card. You can also scan to your computer instead of a memory card (see the instructions in your on-screen Reference Guide).

    The memory card light flashes, then turns green. Note: If the card is not properly formatted, you see a message on the RX620 screen. Press the button indicated on the RX620 screen to format the card. Any data stored on the card will be erased.

Be sure to remove any cards before unplugging the USB cable from your RX620.     Tip: It’s a good idea to turn on your RX620 at least once a month to maintain good print quality. Checking the Print Head You can print a nozzle check pattern to see if any print head nozzles are clogged, or to check the results after cleaning the print head.

    If you don’t see any improvement after cleaning three or four times, check the solutions beginning on page 66. You can also turn the Stylus Photo RX620 off and wait overnight—this allows any dried ink to soften—and then try cleaning the print head again.

  • Page 62 When you install ink cartridges, the Stylus Photo RX620 must charge its ink delivery system. Wait until it’s finished (the from the RX620 screen), then turn it off. If it’s turned off early, it may use extra ink the next time you turn it on.

    Run a nozzle check as described on page 58. If the check page prints, make sure your Stylus Photo RX620 software is installed correctly. If you’re printing on a network, you need to set up your Stylus Photo RX620 for network printing, as described in the on-screen Reference Guide.

    Wait until the fluorescent lamp stays on (ready for scanning). You may need to preview your scan to make the lamp come on. If you are using a USB hub, try connecting the Stylus Photo RX620 directly to the computer’s USB port.

    If you see your Stylus Photo RX620 in the Windows Control Panel, but you can’t scan, uninstall and reinstall its software. See the on-screen Reference Guide to uninstall the software, then follow the installation instructions on the Start Here sheet.

    If paper jams, turn off your Stylus Photo RX620, lift open the scanner section, and remove any paper that’s inside, including any small pieces that may have torn off. Carefully reload paper, turn the RX620 back on, and press the button.
  • Page 67 Use a support sheet with special paper or try loading your paper one sheet at a time. Align the print head; see page 59 for instructions. Use Epson papers for proper saturation and absorption of genuine Epson inks. Your printout is faint or has gaps. Clean the print head; see page 58 for instructions.

    Try changing the Gamma setting in your printer software. If the Stylus Photo RX620 runs out of paper, load additional paper as soon as possible. If it is left without paper for a long period of time, the colors of your next copy or print job may be incorrect.

    Make sure you wipe off any remaining cleaner. Don’t spray glass cleaner directly on the glass. Make sure the Stylus Photo RX620 is not tilted or placed on an unstable or uneven surface.
  • Page 70 The image does not look the same as the original. Your image and display settings may not be correct for your document type. Click in the EPSON Scan window for details. Help Your monitor and printer use different technologies to represent colors, so your printed colors can’t match your screen colors exactly.

    It will not operate properly if it is tilted or at an angle. Leave enough space in front of the Stylus Photo RX620 (at least 9 inches) so it doesn’t tip forward and fall off of the work surface.

    When storing or transporting the Stylus Photo RX620, do not tilt it, stand it on its side, or turn it upside down. Otherwise ink may leak from the cartridges.

    If you remove an ink cartridge for later use, protect the ink supply area from dirt and store it in the same environment as the Stylus Photo RX620. There is a valve in the ink supply port, making covers or plugs unnecessary, but care is needed to prevent the ink from staining items that the cartridge touches.
