3. Loosen the nut on the idler pulley
and move the pulley toward the belt
about 1/8". See Figure 28.
4. Tighten,the
nut.
5. Press the auger drive lever. Check
the tension
on the belt (opposite au-
ger idler pulley).
The belt should
deflect about
1/2" with moderate
pressure
(See Figure 29).

NOTE: If the
adjustment
is not
correct,
re-
peat
the adjustment.

Replace the belt cover.
7.
Check the clutch control cable ad-
justment.
8.
Reconnect the spark plug wire.
Traction
Drive Belt
The traction drive beet has constant
spring pressure and does not require
adjustment.
Replace the traction drive
belt if it is slipping.

in this section.
TO REPLACE
BELTS
The drive belts on this snow thrower
are of special construction
and should
be replaced with original
equipment
belts available
from your nearest Sears
Store. A distributor's
list is supplied in
the parts manual.
You will need the assistance of a sec-
ond person while replacing the belts.
How To Remove
The Auger Drive Belt
If the auger drive belt is damaged, the
snow thrower
will not discharge
snow.
Replace the damaged
belt as follows.
1. Remove the gas from the gas tank.
Stand the snow thrower
up on the
front end of the auger housing.

ARNING:
Drain the gasoline
outdoors, away from fire or
flame.
2,
Disconnect
the spark plug wire.
3.
Remove the screw from the belt
cover. Remove the belt cover. See
Figure 27,
4.
Remove the bolts on each side of
the motor mount frame. See
Figure 30.
5,
Loosen the bolts on each side of
the motor mount frame. The au-
ger housing and the motor mount
