The Automatic Digital Humidifier Control offers t womodes ofoperation,
Automatic orManual. An explanation ofboth modes follows. (See F igure A
onpage 5 forAutomatic Mode. See Figure B onpage 6 forManual Mode.)
When i nthe Automatic Mode, this system o ffers t he following benefits:

You will always receive the optimum amount of humidityso that
your home and its furnishings are always protected from the
damaging effects of excess condensationor low humidityduring
the heating season.The Controlautomaticallyadjustsyour home'sRH
basedonthe outdoortemperature, i ncreasing thetime maximum comfort
is maintained.
• Simple operation with few adjustments. TheControleliminatesthe
needto manuallyadjustthe controlwhen outdoortemperature changes.
It also eliminatesthe need to turn the dial setting to "OFF"during the
summerseason.
Call Dealer for Service: Thered light indicatesthat the humidifieris not
operatingnormally and that serviceis required.
ChangeWater Panel: Theyellow light indicatesthat it is time to change
theWater Panelin the humidifier.
Humidifier On: Thegreen light indicatesthat the humidifieris operating
normally.

Your Aprilaire HumidifierControl is installed in the cold air return duct.
Duringthe first heating season,yourHumidifierControlneedsto be set
initially to matchyour home'scondition.Pleasefollow these steps when
adjustingyourcontrol(referto FigureA).
1.Turn the dial setting knob to "5," which is within the normalrange.
Duringthe next 24-48 hoursit may be necessary to adjust the dial for
moreor less humidity,depending on your personal c omfort and home's

2. Duringthe coldestportionof the first heatingseason,minoradjustments
may be necessary. T his is dependentupon your home'sconstruction.

TheRHin yourhomewill now be accurately controlledto meetyour needs
and should not need further adjustment during future heating seasons.
Make noteof the dial setting in the eventyoutemporarilymovethe knobto
"OFF"when performingannual maintenance of yourAprilaire humidifier.
