When you export a document or book as a PDF file, you can choose any of the built-in PDF pre-
sets—Smallest File Size, High Quality Print, Press Quality, PDF/X-1a, or PDF/X-3—or you can
create custom PDF presets to suit your needs. PDF presets can be shared with other components
of Adobe Creative Suite 2 for consistent PDF creation from any application. You can save PDF
documents as Acrobat 4 (PDF 1.3), Acrobat 5 (PDF 1.4), Acrobat 6 (PDF 1.5), or Acrobat 7 (PDF
1.6) files. If you save as an Acrobat 6 or Acrobat 7 file, you have the option to include layers. After
you create a print-ready PDF file, you can hand it off to a service provider who can use Acrobat to
perform preflight checks and color separations.
When you export an InDesign CS2 document as a PDF file, you can choose any of the built-in settings or specify
custom settings and save them as a PDF preset.
