Features That Can Be Set Using the Multi Selector
Available Focus Modes
AF Autofocus
Tile camera automatically adjusts tile focus according to tile distance to tile subject.
Use when the distance from the subject to the lens is 30 cm (1 ft) or more, or 60 cm
(2 ft) or more at the maximum telephoto zoom position.
Macro close_up
Use for close-ups of flowers or small objects.
How close you can be to the subject while shooting depends on the zoom position.
When the zoom position is set to a position where _ and the zoom indicator light in
green, the camera can focus on subjects as close as 9 cm (3.6 in.) from the lens. At the
maximum wide-angle zoom position (the zoom position _), the camera can focus
on subjects as dose as 2 cm (0.8 in.) from the lens.
ill Infinity
Use when shooting distant scenes through window glass or when shooting landscapes.
The camera automatically a_usts the focus near infinity.
• The camera may not be able to focus on nearby objects.
• The flash mode is set to (_ (off).
Manual focus
The focus can be adjusted for any subject that is a dista nce of 2 cm (0.8 in.) to infinity
from the lens (_I-_2). The closest distance at which the camera can focus varies
depending on the zoom position.
• This function can be used when the shooting mode is P, S, A, M, U, scene
mode Sports or Special effects.
[_ Note on Shooting with the Flash
When the shooting distance is less than 50 cm (1 ff 8 in.l, the flash may be unable to light up the
entire subject,

• The setting varies with the shooting mode, See "Available Functions" (_59) and "List of the
Default Settings" (_69) for more information.
• This feature may not be used in combination with certain features. See"Features That Cannot Be
Used Simultaneously" (_75) for more information,
• For shooting modes P, S, A and M, the changed focus mode setting is saved in the camera's
memory even after the camera is turned of_

When using P, _, A, M or U mode if Autofocus mode in the shooting menu ([_54/is set to Full-
time AF, the camera will adjust focus even if the shutter release button is not pressed haffway.
When using other shooting modes, Full-time AF is turned on automatically when macro dose up is
turned on.
