4.2.7 Printer Mechanism Disassembly

4.2.7.1 Printhead Removal

When removing the printhead, make sure the carriage
unit is at the left end of the printer mechanism. If you
try to remove it from any other position, excess force
will be added and the printhead unit may be damaged
as a result.
The printhead for the Stylus Color 900 can not be
used for this model.
1. Remove the printer mechanism. (See Section 4.2.2.)
2. If any ink cartridge is installed in the carriage unit, remove it.
3. Release the carriage lock at the back of the printer mechanism, and
move the carriage unit to the left end of the printer mechanism.

4. Release two joints (gray) in the cartridge clamps to release the
cartridge clamps from the carriage unit.

5. Release two joints (black) in the cartridge clamps from the carriage
unit, and remove the cartridge clamps.
6. Remove the compression spring on the left side of the carriage unit.
7. Releasing three hooks securing the cover protecting 2 ink cartridge
sensors in the carriage unit, remove the cover.
8. Remove the FFC holder on the right edge of the carriage unit by
pulling it upward.
