Fuel filter replacement
The fuel filter is located
between
the fuel pump and the carburetor.
Water or sediment
accumulated
in the fuel filter can cause loss of
power
or hard starting.
To prevent
engine
malfunction,
replace the
fuel filter regularly.-
(SERVICE PERIOD) Every 200 operating
hours or every one year.
l
Gasoline
is extremely
flammable
and
explosive
under
certain
conditions.
Do not smoke
or allow
flames
or sparks
near the
outboard
motor while draining
fuel.
l
Always work in a well-ventilated
area.
l
Be sure that any fuel drained from the outboard
motor is stored in a
safe container.
l
Be careful not to spill fuel when replacing
the filter. Spilled
fuel or
fuel vapor may ignite. If any fuel is spilled,
make sure the area is dry
before starting
the engine.
1. Disconnect
the fuel tank line from the motor.
2. Remove the engine cover, and remove the fuel filter.
3. Install the new fuel filter with the arrow
mark pointing
toward
the
carburetor.
NOTE:
l
Before removing
the filter, place clamps
on the fuel tubes on each
side of the filter to prevent fuel leakage.
l
Fuel flow will be impeded
if the filter is installed
backward.
