Setting Up RAID 1 Arrays on an HP NetServer Cluster

The HP NetRAID adapter and proprietary HP NetRAID software can be used to organize the cluster's disk
storage into RAID level 1disk arrays. Each level 1 RAID array is composed of two hard (hot swap) drives
located in external shared storage cabinets.
RAID level 1 (mirroring) provides storage redundancy with maximum performance. A RAID 1 array consists of
two drives that contain exactly the same data. That is, all of the data on one drive is replicated (mirrored) on the
other.

The preceding table shows how data is distributed for RAID 1. Since each drive contains a complete copy of all
data, all data is still available after the failure of one drive. To rebuild the RAID array after a failure, the failed
drive is replaced and the data simply copied from the good drive to the new drive.
Indicates the drive is...
Online, functioning normally, and part of a configured array.
Functioning normally, but not part of a configured logical drive nor configured as
a hot spare
Configured as a hot spare, powered up and ready for use (not Cluster supported).
Out of service because a fault occurred.
Rebuilding and salvaging data recovered from a failed drive.
