Insert the Software Selections CD into your CD drive, and follow the instructions
on the screen. You can use the CD to:
v Install software or documentation directly from the CD on models that are
equipped with a CD drive.
v Create an image of the Software Selections CD on your hard disk or on a local
area network (LAN) disk and install the software from that image.
The Software Selections CD has an easy-to-use graphical interface and
automated installation procedures for most programs. It also has a help system
that describes the features of the CD.

Installing other operating systems

If you install your own operating system, follow the instructions that come
with your operating-system CDs or diskettes. Remember to install all device
drivers after you install your operating system. Installation instructions are
usually provided with the device drivers.

Shutting down the computer

When you are ready to turn off your computer, always follow the shutdown
procedure for your operating system. This prevents the loss of unsaved data or
damage to your software programs. To shut down the Microsoft
operating system:
1. Click Start on the Windows desktop.
2. Click Shut Down.
3. Click Shut down.
4. Click OK.
