    Removing and replacing the front bezel To remove and replace the front bezel: 1. Open the computer cover. Refer to “Opening the computer cover”. 2. Remove the front bezel by releasing the three plastic tabs inside the chassis and push the bezel outward as shown. 3.

Remove the power supply cables from the cable clips and ties. 6. Slide the power supply assembly forward and remove it from the computer.   • Page 21 8. Lift the failing heat sink and fan assembly off the system board. 9. Use the thermal grease syringe to place five drops of grease on the top of the microprocessor. Each drop of grease should be 0.03ml (3 tick marks on the grease syringe).

Note: You might have to tilt the front end of the system board between the diskette drive and the fan assembly to remove it completely from the chassis. 9. Place the failing system board next to the new system board on a clean, flat surface.

  • Page 25 Important Touch only the sides of the microprocessor. Do not touch the gold contacts on the bottom. 15. Lift the microprocessor straight up and out of the socket. Notes a. Note the orientation of the notches on the microprocessor. This is important when reinstalling the microprocessor on the new system board.

  • Page 27 To replace the heat sink assembly: 1. Open the computer cover. Refer to “Opening the computer cover”. 2. Pivot the drive bay assembly upward to gain access to the microprocessor. 3. Disconnect all cables connected to the system board. Refer to “Identifying parts on the system board”.
  • Page 28 7. Lift the heat sink and fan assembly off the failing system board. Note: Place the heat sink on its side on a clean, flat surface so the thermal grease on the bottom of the heat sink does not touch the surface and become contaminated.
