Replacing the Diskette Drive

If you need to replace the diskette drive, you can
remove the existing drive and install a new one.
To ensure that the drive fits properly into the
HP Pavilion, be sure to purchase the replacement
diskette drive from HP. Refer to your Support Path
card for the telephone number of the
HP Customer Care Center.
To remove the diskette drive:
1 Turn off the computer and all peripherals.
2 Disconnect the modem/phone cable.
3 Disconnect the power cord and all other
attached cables (such as the keyboard, mouse,
and monitor).
4 Remove the side panel (see "Removing the
Side Panel" on page 34).

5 Remove the two screws (A) on the side of the
diskette drive.
6 Slide the drive cage out partway (see "Sliding
the Drive Cage In and Out" on page 35).
7 Disconnect the power and IDE cables attached
to the back of the diskette drive.
8 Pull the diskette drive out through the back of
the drive cage.
